climb on!

one of my favorite companies favorite mottos is "do one thing a day that scares you." oh yes, lululemon dreams big. they are huge believers in goal-setting, putting things out into the universe and making them come true. i love their brand - i love their spirit - and i love their community involvement. i would also love to work for them and perhaps someday the planets will align, but for now i just try to channel their energy and apply when necessary and possible.

so in the name of 'doing something that scares you' and 'sweating once a day' i signed up for rock wall climbing class at my gym. i haven't climbed since high school (and i'm not sure that counts cause it was only a couple times) and even though the gyms i've been at for 5ish years have always had walls, i've never even considered strapping on a harness and giving it another go.

then, one day i did.

a few days later i tried the complimentary climb. it was hard. waaaay harder than i remember. and i maybe made it up 15 feet of the 50+ feet wall. my arms killllled for days. but i did it. and i'll only get better. and stronger. and damnit, by the end of my four week class i will be able to get to the top of that wall. when that happens someone better be around with a camera cause the internet needs to see that moment.

the next few weeks will be full of soreness and fun rocky challenges. i'm excited to learn from the pros, get stronger and overcome that scary wall. it's hard to not feel like a badass afterwards and when you have a blah day, or week - something shiny and new is just what you need to get you outta that funk.

words! a recipe! plus a special cameo!

so it's been a while since i've said something of any substance around here. have my picture laden posts kept you around? or have i long been banished from that reader of yours thanks to my neglect of this dear space?

these past few months have been a whirlwind, much like this entire year. i been trying to just breathe in all the amazingness and chaos, but i wish i would have taken the time to share it with you – and myself really. this little blog has been a sort of diary for the last several years and it's fun to go back and see what i was up to a year ago. or where my head was at. or how stupid i really sounded. (okay some parts are more fun than others about years and years dictated online.)

sometimes i think i've outgrown this little blog. or think maybe it's time to retire this one and start something fresh? oooor maybe it's just time for a face lift? time will only tell. odds are i do nothing and keep sporadically rambling. eh, at least that'd be consistent.

i leave you with this tasty mushroom 'bolognese'. just follow their instructions. it's easy peasy and tastes far more flavorful and hearty that you would ever expect. i added a couple handfuls of spinach to prettify and add a little more texture. plus, easy way to get some greens in this meal without having a salad on the side.
be careful though. if you don't plan on sharing, you'll make everyone jealous. including your pup :)
